Questions & Answers

What other water sports do you do and how long?

Windsurfing (wave), Standup paddle, kitefoiling, windsurffoiling, wingfoiling, pronefoiling, sailing and surfing (longboard). It all started with windsurfing, 30 years ago.

What do you like about wing foiling?

I call it my natural tow-in jetski. Now I can ride those long northsea waves.

How did you learn and how long did it take you to wing foil?

My first try was in Tarifa, we had a dealer meeting with Naish. I took my about 1 session on a 110L board to learn.

What is your favorite gear combination and why?

My Naish 2.8 wing with 55l hover board, 75cm mast and the jetfoil 1250. Best combination with 30 knots. Easy to waveride and make some jumps.

What was your favorite wing surfing session?

The first time I landed the backflip, looks so easy but so hard to land. Also all my northsea sessions, specially with northern winds! (we have some good swell to ride).

What do you want or believe will significantly improve the wing foiling gear?

Each year, new improvements are made. I do believe the wings will become faster, lighter and more powerful.

What tips or recommendations do you have for anyone who wants to start?

Start on a lake with adapted equipment (board volume, wing size, foil size,...) and just go for it. It does not take long to fly!

What is your biggest water sport achievement?

World champ long distance race 2015. (The Naish n1sco world championships in Amsterdam)
