Questions & Answers
What other water sports do you do and how long?
My dad taught me windsurfing when I was 10. I picked up and switched to kiting after a course in Melbourne at the age of 26. Just for fun, never professionally, not sponsored. I just recently tried wingfoiling and I’m an absolute beginner but sure had a blast. I mostly enjoy kitesurfing in small to medium waves. I’m a passionate diver, too, working as a divemaster on Koh Tao. I learnt how to communicate with sharks at Protea Banks, South Africa, from Dr. Erich Ritter. They don’t say much though.
What do you like about wing foiling?
I like being independent and the freedom to enter the water wherever and without lots of space nor wind needed.
How did you learn and how long did it take you to wing foil?
I spent 30min on the beach getting a hang of the wing. Then jumped on the foil with a 130l inflatable SUP for half day with great instructions from coach @timdelhaes – and still working on it.
What is your favorite gear combination and why?
Currently I use @timdelhaes gear whenever I get the chance.
What was your favorite wing surfing session?
July 2020 in List beach, Sylt, Germany. Lot’s of sun, friends and family, flat water like in the caribbean – ideal for my first steps into wingfoiling.
What do you want or believe will significantly improve the wing foiling gear?
Elon Musk and new materials originally developed for space flight!
What is your biggest water sport achievement?
Teaching my ex-girlfriend how to kitesurf.
