Questions & Answers
What other water sports do you do and how long?
I started Kitesurfing in the good old days 2002, got hooked to it from day one and I am loving it! I was kiting on european lakes and spent my holidays with kitesurfing all over the world. Since i do live on the Southcoast of the UK (Kitesurfer's Paradise!) i have learned riding a strapless surfboard in the waves, improved my twintip skills (bigair, freestyle) and started Kitefoiling in 2018. Love riding the foil as a strapless setup as well as jumping with the foil! To cover the 360 degrees wind window - I had to learn Wingfoiling - and got addicted!
What do you like about wing foiling?
The fact to be part of the first crazy wingers in a new sport and every session gives you this, "done something the first time in my life" feeling!
How did you learn and how long did it take you to wing foil?
Started winging on a mountainboard (2 times) and 6 water sessions later, I have downsized my board from 109l to 75l - I'm very happy with my progression!
What is your favorite gear combination and why?
Wing: Ozone Wasp v1 4.0m Board: Anton Kiteboards Custom Carbon Wing 147x63 75l Foil: Moses 71 or 91 mast, with W1100 front wing
What was your favorite wing surfing session?
My last one :-) - still learning so much every session and that feeling when it becomes more and more natural! As I love competing, i hope there will be some Winging competitions coming up soon.
What do you want or believe will significantly improve the wing foiling gear?
Carbon, carbon, carbon ;) The lightweight of the gear is so important. My first Kitefoil was almost 9kg(!) and my latest setup is 3.3kg! Thank you to Anton Kiteboard and Moses Hydrofoils.
What tips or recommendations do you have for anyone who wants to start?
Don't be scared of something you have not tried yet! Give it a go and feel the passion...
What is your biggest water sport achievement?
(Kitesurfing) Queen of the Air UK 2019* - Bigair & Commulative Airtime.
