What other water sports do you do and how long?

I have been surfing, sailing and standup paddle boarding my whole life. I have been winging for the past year.

What do you like about wing foiling?

I really like how responsive and maneuverable the wing foil is for riders. For instance, I throw big airs, ride massive swells, and surf Ft Point all on my favorite set up. Also - shout out to the wing crew at Crissy Field - they make it awesome.

How did you learn and how long did it take you to wing foil?

I learned to foil by towing behind a dinghy with friends. After a few sessions with the boat, I moved to wing foiling at my favorite spot. I’ve been hooked ever since.

What is your favorite gear combination and why?

My perfect set up is the F-One 4.2 Strike with Rocket Surf 4’2”, 105 cm carbon mast, and Escape 530 foil. This set up is great for bucking huge airs.

What was your favorite wing surfing session?

My first time wing foiling the Ft Point break under the Golden Gate Bridge. Awesome session with the guys from Crissy.

What do you want or believe will significantly improve the wing foiling gear?

I think the big changes with be in wing and foil shapes. As different riding styles continue develop (freestyle, race, or surf), I think we can make improvements for each style of rider.

What tips or recommendations do you have for anyone who wants to start?

Get a good set up, commit to learning, go EVERY day you can and make friends with local riders.

What is your biggest water sport achievement?

Winning a race in the first StFYC Wing Foil Slalom Series
