Questions & Answers
What other water sports do you do and how long?
Windsurfer since 1994, Kitesurfer since 2005... I just love to try new water sports like SUP, surf, foiling and fell in love with wing foiling in 2020.
What do you like about wing foiling?
I love that fact that I can wing foil on spots that were inaccessible with my kites.
How did you learn and how long did it take you to wing foil?
I just rented a setup and went for it straight away. As I was already a kitefoiler and windsurfer it basically took me one session to foil and jibe... you can watch my first shaky session on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/danielgraffe
What is your favorite gear combination and why?
Duotone Slick as a wing because the boom makes my maneuvers so much easier. My f-one board and my f-one phantom 1480 makes me fly when you actually do not think about wind sports yet.
What was your favorite wing surfing session?
My first session on an high aspect foil, when out of a sudden I could do 360 and similar stuff effortless while I was struggling with these maneuvers on my low aspect wing for weeks.
What do you want or believe will significantly improve the wing foiling gear?
I want travel oriented gear that makes flying, riding trains, bikes and just traveling in general as easy as possible while still having a decent performance and versatillity in my gear.
What tips or recommendations do you have for anyone who wants to start?
Take some beginner equipment to get started. Don't start on too little boards or too little foils it just makes your learning curve so much longer and postpones the fun and stoke that you could have.
What is your biggest water sport achievement?
Enjoying every session to the fullest, like riding one footer waves with an inflatable SUP and having the time of my life :).
